New Design: Svelte and Tough

Previous generations of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S series were offered in three versions—a standard model, a Plus, and an Ultra. This year, however, Samsung has simplified the lineup to just two options: the Plus and the Ultra. The S10+ is now the more compact and affordable choice, featuring a 12.4‑inch display at a starting price of $999.99. In contrast, the Ultra model ups the ante with a 14.6‑inch screen and a base price of $1,199.99. Aside from the differences in display size and battery capacity, both the Tab S10+ and the Tab S10 Ultra share the same core specifications and features.

The Samsung galaxy tab S10+ shares almost the exact dimensions as its predecessor, measuring 7.30 inches in height, 11.24 inches in width, and just 0.22 inches thick—nearly identical to both the Tab S9+ (7.30 × 11.23 × 0.22 inches) and the Tab S9 FE+ (7.30 × 11.24 × 0.26 inches). In contrast, it is noticeably smaller than the S10 Ultra, which measures 8.21 by 12.85 by 0.21 inches, and even the 13‑inch iPad Pro (8.48 × 11.09 × 0.20 inches).

At the forefront of the tablet is a brilliant display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, ensuring enhanced durability. A front-facing camera is elegantly centered along the top edge, delivering crisp video calls and clear selfies. The back panel features subtle antenna lines over a design that includes the Samsung logo, a magnetic groove for charging the S Pen stylus, and an integrated camera module. The top left corner houses a power button and a volume rocker, both offering satisfying tactile feedback.

Nice Display: Plenty of Pixels

The Tab S10+ features a 12.4‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen that delivers stunning clarity and vibrant colors. With a resolution of 2,800 by 1,752 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio, it offers a smooth visual experience thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 650 nits. In comparison, the Tab S9 FE+ also has a 12.4‑inch display but is equipped with an LCD that provides a lower resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels and a slower 90Hz refresh rate, resulting in inferior contrast performance.

Meanwhile, the iPad Pro steps up with a 13‑inch tandem OLED display, boasting a resolution of 2,752 by 2,064 pixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio, a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and peak brightness levels of 1,000 nits in SDR mode and 1,600 nits in HDR mode.

Samsung has enhanced the Tab S10+ display by adding an anti-reflective coating. In our tests, the screen maintained good clarity on bright days with minimal glare, although it struggled somewhat under direct, harsh sunlight. Overall, it delivers a noticeably better viewing experience than the S9 FE+, whose less vibrant LCD panel falls short in contrast and brightness.

Performance: No Snapdragon, No Problem

A notable hardware alteration defines the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+: its core processing now relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset. This marks a departure from its predecessor, which utilized the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The tablet boasts a robust 12GB of RAM, and consumers can select between onboard storage capacities of 256GB, priced at $999.99, or 512GB, available for $1,119.99. For those requiring expanded storage, a microSD card slot accommodates up to an additional 1.5TB. Notably, the 5G-enabled variant is offered exclusively with the 256GB storage configuration, carrying a price tag of $1,149.99.

To assess its computational prowess, the Tab S10+ underwent testing via Geekbench 6, a benchmark suite designed to measure raw processing capabilities. The device achieved scores of 2,072 in the single-core evaluation and 7,242 in the multi-core evaluation. For context, prior Samsung tablet models and a leading competitor yielded the following results: the Tab S9 Ultra, powered by the Snapdragon, registered 2,069 and 5,408; the S9 FE+, featuring the Samsung Exynos 1380, scored 1,011 and 2,897; and the Apple iPad Pro, equipped with the M4 chip, produced scores of 3,679 and 14,647. Playing “Genshin’s Impact,” a title renowned for its demanding resource requirements, was a seamless experience, even when configured with maximum graphical fidelity and frame rates. Visuals exhibited remarkable clarity, and animations flowed with a fluid smoothness, all while the tablet’s rear surface maintained a comfortably cool temperature.

For routine activities, such as email management, web navigation, and online retail, the Tab S10+ presented no challenges. Furthermore, the device effortlessly managed the demands of rapid application switching and concurrent multi-app utilization, solidifying its status as a versatile and powerful mobile computing platform.

Battery Life: Long Enough to Get a Lot Done

Equipped with a substantial 10,090mAh power cell, the S10+ facilitates rapid replenishment with a maximum charging rate of 45W. During our standardized battery endurance evaluation, which involved continuous 1080p video playback via Wi-Fi at peak luminosity, the Tab S10+ sustained operation for 8 hours and 10 minutes. This performance surpassed the Tab S9 FE+ by 45 minutes, which clocked 7 hours and 23 minutes, and exceeded the iPad Pro’s duration by 30 minutes, which registered 7 hours and 43 minutes.

Employing a compatible rapid charger, the Galaxy Tab S10+ achieved a complete recharge, from a depleted state to full capacity, in 1 hour and 35 minutes. It’s important to note that the device is shipped without a power adapter, necessitating the acquisition of a separate charger. A brief 15-minute charge provided a 21% battery boost, while a 30-minute charge elevated the battery level to 42%. ¹ By contrast, the iPad Pro, which supports a 20W charging rate, requires 2 hours to attain a 100% charge

Connectivity and Speakers: About Average

Connectivity on the Galaxy Tab S10+ encompasses Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, though Near Field Communication (NFC) is conspicuously absent. A notable limitation for cellular variants is their carrier-locked nature; consumers seeking an unlocked 5G model will find none available. Conversely, the more expansive Tab S10 Ultra integrates the next-generation Wi-Fi 7 standard.  

Under controlled conditions, utilizing a Wi-Fi 6 access point, the S10+ achieved a peak download rate of 443Mbps and a maximum upload rate of 19.8Mbps. In a parallel assessment, the Wi-Fi 6E-enabled Tab S9 Ultra exhibited comparable performance, registering 445Mbps for downloads and 18.6Mbps for uploads. When both devices were subjected to testing at the network’s fringe, the S10+ experienced a decline to 137Mbps for downloads and 12.0Mbps for uploads. In contrast, the Tab S9 Ultra maintained a robust connection, delivering 433Mbps for downloads and 16.1Mbps for uploads.  

Audio output, enhanced by Dolby Atmos support, delivers a substantial stereo sound profile with discernible bass. However, the deepest frequencies of The Knife’s “Silent Shout” proved imperceptible during testing. When Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” was played, a peak volume of 92.5dB was measured, sufficient to inundate a small room with sound, accompanied by a degree of auditory depth. Engaging Dolby Atmos while viewing “The Dark Knight” yielded a richer, more impactful audio experience compared to its deactivated state. As always, the use of quality Bluetooth headphones is advocated for an optimal listening session.

Contrasting this, the S9 FE+, equipped with standard stereo speakers, falls short in delivering a truly immersive audio landscape.

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab S10+ Cameras: Not So Sharp

The rear imaging array of the Tab S10+ comprises a dual-lens configuration: a primary 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and an 80-degree viewing angle, complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. This same arrangement is mirrored in the Tab S10 Ultra. Overall, photographic output can be described as adequate. While captured images retain a substantial degree of detail, color fidelity tends toward an exaggerated saturation.

Examining a representative sample, the 13-megapixel main lens rendered the sky with an overly intense hue and depicted foliage in a shade lighter than its actual appearance, though shadow regions did retain some textural nuance.

Ultra-wide angle captures exhibited noticeable edge distortion, even with the application of corrective algorithms, and the color balance deviated from that of the primary sensor.

The front-facing camera, a 12-megapixel unit with an f/2.0 aperture and a 120-degree viewing range, yields sharp self-portraits with commendable detail retention, albeit with the persistent issue of color over-saturation. Portrait mode effectively isolates subjects from their backgrounds, though the device encountered difficulties in precisely defining the contours of eyeglasses and complex hairstyles. The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra distinguishes itself by incorporating a secondary front-facing camera: a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a narrower 80-degree field of view.
